Post of the Week - Week 2 Term 2
My goodness! It's getting harder and harder for me to choose posts of the week because the students in Room 19 are just pumping out some jolly good posts. I have chosen Feki's post 'We had fun' because his writing to support the video was a good example of an effective paragraph. That's what we have been practising during our writing sessions. Well Done Feki.

Student Reflections
The students were asked to reflect on a number of things related to creating their DLO. This is the same group that has their movies and rubric posted below. Here's what they had to say...
They also had to think about what they would do differently next time, how they could use 'new' information/knowledge in real life situations or future classroom situations, were they given enough time to complete their DLO?
Keep an eye out for their new 'full reflection' posts where each student will individually answer each reflection question.
Tracey, Feki, Mauina, Vaha and Ngaina.

Nga Pukeko at it again...
The Pukeko reading group had such a great term last term. I can see they are rearing to go for gold again this term.
Here's a movie put together by Mrs Clarke - the students read the story 'The Mud Slide', wrote a script together, were given parts to read and were recorded for you to enjoy.
If you wish to give them feedback please go to their individual blogs and leave comments.
Thanks again Mrs Clarke.

DLO of the Term- The Pt England Way Korero.

Last term the students were asked to make movies showing their understanding of some of the korero that helps our students remember the 'Pt England Way'. Students worked in groups and were assessed on a number of things.
The post you are about to see is the 'top' DLO of the class. If you check the rubric (above), you will see their final assessment.
Please leave comments for the students on their own blogs, they would love to hear from you :)
Well done Tracey, Feki, Mauina, Vaha and Ngaina. All your hard work paid off.

Post of the Week
Jonty wins the post of the week award. He has chosen to write about a mythical creature 'The Hydra'. It is exciting to see him playing around with language and experimenting using descriptive words. Well done Jonty... Bring it on! Have a read and let him know what you think.

The Pukeko and Mrs Clarke.
Room 19 are blessed to have the fabulous Mrs Clarke work with a group of students during Literacy. All our reading groups have been named after NZ Native Birds and Mrs Clarke works with the 'Pukeko' group. Throughout the term I have observed a number of wonderful activities this lucky group get to experience with Mrs Clarkes guidance. Here is a movie made by the Pukeko group explaining how they made their kites.
Thanks Mrs Clarke we love you!

Blog of the week

Tomjoe's Blog is my (Ms T's) choice for blog of the week. He was the first student to chose a new 'bling' or background for his blog and has a number of people from all over the world checking out his posts. It helps to have whanau or family spread around various parts of the world too - read some of his comments from family members and feel free to leave one yourself. The competition is fierce with Feki 'blinging' his blog today :) Click on the link 'Blog of the week' to check out Tomjoes interests etc. I loved the Avatar theme he chose - Great movie! Oh by the way, students are encouraged to post regularly and get to 'bling' their blog and add 'extras' to their blog to personalise them.
